ARTIST STATEMENT

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to look at my photographs. I’d like to show you the beauty of nature as I see it through the lens.

It takes a lot of time and effort to create great photographs. I need to find a good location, visualize the shot, set the camera up and finally snap the shot when the conditions are just right.

The most important thing for me is to create a strong reaction in the viewer. I would like people to concentrate on the content and messages in my photographs, and for my photographs to be a valuable testament of the many special moments Mother Nature has to offer.




BIOGRAPHY

Viktor is a self thought photographer from the Czech Republic. After graduating from College he moved to Ireland and soon started exploring the beautiful Irish coastline, mountains and midlands. It sparked his passion for wilderness and landscape photography.

Starting with a film SLR, Viktor has exclusively used digital SLR since 2006. He started to learn photography by studying the work of other landscape photographers, reading magazines and books about photography, and last but not least by practising in terrain. This enables him to capture vast mountain vistas, beautiful coastal scenes and intimate patterns in exceptional quality.

He strives to render the beauty of nature in special lighting conditions that usually occur early in the morning or just before sunset. It’s no surprise that you will see him quite often crawling over rocky shores, climbing steep mountain slopes or cycling along the coast in search of location.

His work was published in a number of magazines and he held a very successful first exhibition in Sladovna Gallery, Pisek, Czech Republic in October 2009. Viktor also won 2nd price in a prestigious Photolife Magazine competition. Viktor’s photographs have also featured in a recently published book “Patchwork anywhere you look” written by extremely skilled craftswoman, Jana Harmachova.

Viktor has been inspired by many great landscape photographers but it was Adam Burton & Joe Cornish, two photographers who changed the way Viktor now sees the world around him.
